Protocol and Master of Ceremony (MC) Training to Enhance Public Communication Competence for the Community of Sakkoli Village, Sajoanging District, Wajo Regency

Protocol and Master of Ceremony (MC) skills are essential for ensuring that government and community events are conducted in an orderly, communicative, and professional manner. As a government unit that interacts directly with the public, the village routinely organizes various formal and informal events requiring both event management capabilities and public speaking skills. However, limited understanding of event sequencing, protocols of precedence and honor, hosting techniques, vocal management, and a lack of self-confidence often pose challenges to the successful execution of these events. This community service initiative aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of the residents of Sakkoli Village (Sajoanging District, Wajo Regency) regarding protocol and MC duties. The activity employs a participatory approach involving needs assessment, material presentation, demonstrations, hands-on practice, event simulations, and evaluation with feedback. Training topics cover fundamental protocol principles, seating arrangements, ceremonial procedures, protocols of honor, etiquette, event agenda structuring, vocal techniques (articulation and intonation), body language, atmosphere management, and practical MC experience for village events. The results indicate an improvement in participants' understanding of protocol principles and their practical ability to host events in a more structured, confident, and communicative manner. The activity also provided participants with practical experience in managing both formal and social events at the village level. Protocol and MC training serves as a strategic approach to strengthening village human resource capacity, particularly in supporting public communication and the organization of government and community activities.
