Efforts to Prevent and Resolve Land Disputes in Mappadaelo Urban Village, Tanasitolo District, Wajo Regency

Abstract

Land disputes remain frequent within the community due to a lack of understanding regarding the governing civil law regulations. This situation prompted the implementation of civil law outreach activities through a Community Partnership Program (PKM) in Mappadaelo Village, Tanasitolo District, Wajo Regency. The outreach utilized a simple, communicative approach, beginning with a presentation of the material, followed by discussions with residents and simulations of real-life scenarios. This method enabled the community to better understand how to prevent land disputes and identify appropriate resolution steps—whether through amicable deliberation or legal channels—should a dispute arise. The activity resulted in increased community knowledge regarding the importance of valid ownership documents and legal procedures, as well as a greater willingness to resolve issues peacefully. Beyond merely imparting knowledge, the initiative fostered residents' confidence in safeguarding their land rights. Consequently, this outreach is expected to serve as a tangible step toward preventing future land conflicts and strengthening legal awareness at the local level.
